An initial 30 minute assessment to help determine a student’s best treatment options. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your first appointment to complete paperwork.
One of the most effective tools for addressing issues common among college students and for many, it can be more effective than individual counseling. You may be referred to group during your Initial Assessment if your counselor believes that your needs would be best met in a group setting. Typically meets on a weekly basis.
Learn concrete skills to address and manage anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship issues, or academic concerns. Offered on a weekly, drop-in basis.
Individual sessions are typically offered on a short-term, biweekly basis with a mental health professional to address the common concerns faced by college students. Approximately 73% of Marist students receiving individual counseling meet for 1-5 sessions. If your concerns require more specialized or longer-term counseling, Counseling Services may recommend and assist you in connecting with a provider off-campus or close to home.

A drop-in service that offers informal, confidential consultation with a counselor. No appointment is necessary. Offered on first-come, first-served basis!
For psychiatric emergencies after business hours or on weekends, contact the RA/RD on Duty or Campus Safety and Security (845)575-2282. They will contact the on-call counselor who will assist you.
Workshops and Trainings for students, faculty, and staff have included mindfulness meditation, stress management, healthy eating, alcohol education, sexual assault awareness and prevention, and identifying and responding to students in distress.
